Introduction
Welcome to the official website of the 2012 Prague Canon DSLR Workshop, created in a cooperation of The Association (Burbank, California) and Creovision (Prague, Czech Republic). Here you will find useful information about the preparations, submitting the application form and about the content of the workshop itself. While we work on the workshop preparations, we are interested in your input on this, because it all comes down to what you would like to see or do during this two day experience. So please take part on the Facebook blog discussions. Now, lets talk about the workshop itself.
This is a two day workshop, that usually takes place in Burbank, California. We are taking it on a little tour for you this year, to Prague, Czech Republic. This is the first time that this workshop has left the area of Hollywood studios in California and we are proud to present it to you. This is the number one DSLR workshop in Los Angeles Area and it has trained over 200 filmmakers in the field of the currently very popular world of DSLR cameras.
DAY 1
This workshop begins with an all day workshop in Pokrok Studios, one of the most technically advanced studios in the Czech Republic. In this studio, you will experience all the gear that you might possibly find useful during a DSLR shoot. You will get hands on training with the best rigs, lenses, monitors, sound equipment, dollies, jib arms, car mounts, wireless focusing systems, mechanized motion controlled sliders and lighting equipment that we could get. Some of these pieces are just brand new on the market. Also you will have an exclusive chance to see and use the brand new Canon C300 camera, which will enter the market after our workshop. Another interesting addition to this event is a presentation of very large radio controlled DSLR helicopters with movable camera heads for aerial shots. These things will be taught to you by experienced award-winning cinematographers, based in California, who specifically asked for limited class sizes, so that they can answer any question you have and that all the gear is there for you to try out hands on.
DAY 2
On the second day, you get to use all the skills you gained on set. We designed a professional shooting day for you, with a script exclusively written for this occasion. Everyone gets to be behind the camera during this day. We take care of the casting, make-up, production management, location scouting, sound and directing, so that you can only focus on camera movements, lighting set-ups and composition. All this time, you will be guided through the process by the professional DP´s from The Association, so that you know exactly what to do and how to do it. For our location, we will use the Prague Central Station (Praha - Hlavní Nádraží), where you will get to experience shooting in a train cabin, a moving vehicle (Car Mount) and running scenes through the station. This station has been recently completely reconstructed, so we think you will very much enjoy the location. Once we are finished shooting and editing, you will be credited as a DP and you can also use the final product for your resume submissions.

What lead us to this
As any other filmmaker in the Czech Republic, we have been looking for a workshop to join. We found out, that there is no such thing currently offered. In 2010, we found the Canon Bootcamp (http://www.theassociation.tv/canonbootcamp.php) offered by The Association. We´ve met with the creators in Burbank, California, only a few steps away from the Warner Bros. Studios and we were amazed. It wasn´t until we returned home, that the idea of bringing it over to Europe got to us. And here we go. A year later, we are only a few steps away from the first class. We are sure, that we bring the best dslr workshop we could possibly put together and we know that The Association will teach you all you need to know about the DSLR cameras. So trust us when we say, as fellow filmmakers, we designed a workshop that WE would like to join ourselves.
Technology
We have gathered some of the most advanced technology currently on the market. Some of the gear you will see, is not even on the European market yet. You will get to see wireless focusing systems and fully controllable camera heads attached to helicopters. We have partnered with many people and companies to bring you technology from such brands as:
· Canon
· RedRock
· Micro
· Marshall
· BeachTek
· Zeiss Lenses
· FilmTools
· And many many more
